There is a considerable variety of types offilters available, and the most common include air cyclone, electrostatic apparatus,alkaline water sprays, and activated carbon. Electrostatic filtering is not recommendedbecause electrostatic filters add the pollutant ozone to the air as they filter particulatematter. Dry filters instead are recommended. In specifying a level of filtering efficiency, itshould be noted that the more complete the filtering process, the higher the cost because itrequires larger fan systems to pull the air through the filters and thus consumes moreenergy. The more efficient filter will require more frequent servicing or replacement, asthe particulate matters will accumulate more rapidly on the filters.
