III. 篇章結構(10%)     Telephone fraud, or telephone scam, is one of the many well-known forms of cheating people. In these years, it has become a multi-billion dollar business. 26. By calling and pretending to be someone they’re really not, telephone scammers try to trick people into giving their money. 27.     Unlike most other crimes, telephone fraud normally requires one essential element: victim participation. 28. Therefore, it is advised that we become skeptical when receiving calls from unknown callers who try to convince us to provide personal information, such as our bank accounts or credit numbers, or paying for a prize or gift which may turn out to be an overpriced purchase. 29. Callers from a legitimate institution will absolutely have no problem with us taking the extra time to do our research and find out if they are telling the truth or not. 30. The more aware we are of it, the more possible we get ourselves off these hooks. 
(A) What’s worse, they can ruin the victims’ entire life, clean them out financially, and leave them with credit problems for years to come. 
(B) Avoiding becoming a victim of telephone fraud is really just a matter of common sense.

(E) If the caller is making high pressure statements such as “You have to act right now,” it is an immediate warning sign to just say “no” and hang up the phone.
