問題詳情

B. You’ve probably heard it from teachers, friends, and even your parents: Situp straight! This sitting position was thought to be not only polite but also good foryour back, digestion, and alertness. For many years, conventional wisdom held this tobe an undisputed truth.     New research, however, has shown that sitting up straight may not be allthat it’s cracked up to be. One study found that sitting at a 90-degree angle actuallyputs a lot of pressure on your back. Using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)technology, researchers discovered that sitting up straight can lead to pinched nervesand slipped disks, which are two of the leading causes of chronic back pain.      So, is there a solution? Researchers suggest that you sit back instead ofsitting up straight. For students, office workers, and anyone who must remain seatedfor long periods of time, sitting at an angle of 135 degrees is ideal. According toresearchers, this position puts the least amount of pressure on your back and bestpreserves the natural shape of the spine. They suggest reclining slightly when you areseated and even placing a small pillow behind your lower back.      Next time you’re seated, lean back a little bit and relax. It feels better, and it’sbetter for you back!
