[B]In May, 1992, Vedran Smailovic’s beloved city, Sarajevo, had been under siege forover a month. Everyone’s life was disrupted, including Smailovic’s. The Sarajevo OperaTheater, where he used to perform every night, was also lost __11__ war, reduced to heapsof rubble.
