問題詳情

六、閱讀測驗題 (2小題 每小題0分 共0分)  1. In Miami, Florida, there is a place called “Little Havana.” Havana is the capital of Cuba. Why is this American neighborhood called Little Havana? That’s because most of the inhabitants there come from Cuba, and they named this place Little Havana in memory of their hometown. Most immigrants(移民)from Cuba want to live in Little Havana because it reminds them of their homeland. Another place in Miami even has a Spanish name, “Calle Ocho.” Calle Ocho is a part of Eighth Street in Miami, and it means Eighth Street in Spanish. On Calle Ocho, you can buy Cuban root vegetables, eat Cuban bread, and sip hot Cuban coffee. You can also wander along Calle Ocho all day long without hearing any English words.  Besides the two examples above, there are many other places in Miami that show what an important group of people the Cubans are in Miami. But why are there so many Cubans in Miami? There are many reasons for this. One is the location. Miami is easy to reach from Cuba. Another is the similarity in climate. The climate in Miami is almost the same as that in Cuba. When the Cubans want to start a new life overseas, the first place that comes to minds is usually Miami.  Once Cuban immigrants settle down in Miami, they often help one another. They buy food from stores owned by Cubans. They hold banquets at the restaurants whose bosses are Cubans. When they need to have their teeth fixed, they go to Cuban dentists. And they turn to Cuban lawyers whenever they are in need of help. They also work hard, and many Cubans prosper in Miami.
