Discourse Structure篇章結構: (10%)    Mother’s Day got its start in the United States in 1872 when Julia Ward Howe brought the idea that a day should be set to honor mothers─and peace. ____36.____    In fact, Jarvis’s mother had tried to found “Mother’s Friendship Days” but she had not been successful. Jarvis’s mother died in 1905 and two years after her death, Jarvis held a ceremony to honor her. ____37.____ A few years later in 1910, Mother’s Day was recognized as an official holiday by West Virginia. ____38.____ Woodrow Wilson, then President of the United States, declared Mother’s Day a national holiday in 1914, and the second Sunday of May was chosen as its date.    ____39.____ She believed Mother’s Day had become too commercialized. She fought against Mother’s Day festivals and those who made money from the holiday. ____40.____ 
(A) She was so moved by the ceremony that she decided to urge the government to set an official holiday for mothers. 
(B) “I wanted it to be a day of sentiment,” Jarvis once said, “not profit!” 
(C) Within a year, nearly every other state had also started celebrating this holiday.
