V. Reading Comprehension (5%)     Before you invite your Indian friends to dinner, you should be aware of some Indian eating customs. First of all, most Indians do not eat beef for religious reasons. Because the cow in Indian society is traditionally regarded as a holy animal, Indians do not kill cows, not to mention eating them. Indians usually have chicken or seafood with rice and curry* sauce. Some Indians are even vegetarians. They do not eat any meat. Instead, they have beans and vegetables. Besides, Indians only eat with their right hands because the left hand is considered “unclean”: it is reserved for wiping oneself after using the restroom. Therefore, do not serve or pass food to your friends with your left hand or you may place your friends as well as yourself in an awkward situation. If you think there are too many rules to follow, just ask your Indian friends first.
