What about our minds? Some people tell us to "expand our minds," and it's true, we should!The brain is like muscles in the body, if you don't use it, you will lose it. One brain function that fades if not exercised is the skill of remembering. So, if you want to maintain or improve your memory, you will have to work on it.The good news is that there are many ways to exercise your brain. No, you don't need to go to a brain gym or take memory classes. One way to improve your mind is to learn something new. No one is too old to learn a new skill. You can try to learn a new hobby, language, or game. Learning something new keeps your brain active, just like going to the gym.You can also stimulate your brain by doing puzzles. Brain storming or using your brain for calculations or recollecting telephone numbers also can help with maintaining your memory. Taking tests is another way to strengthen your mind. Test taking is better than simply reading, because when you read, only part of your brain is active. If you want to be able to remember as much as you do now or more, start working your brain every day.
