 The Alchemist is a novel written by Paulo Coelho.    11    in 1988, it has been recognized as a modern classic. It wasoriginally written in Portuguese, but so far it    12    translated into 67 languages. The novel describes in detail the journey ofa young Andalusian shepherd boy named Santiago.   13    a recurring dream to be prophetic, Santiago determines to travel to thepyramids of Egypt to find treasure. Then, he tells a gypsy about the treasure. When he is about to leave, the gypsy tells himthat she wants    14     of the treasure if he does find it. On the way, Santiago    15    love, danger, opportunity, and disaster.Meanwhile, he also learns much about himself and the impact he had    16    the people he met. An old king namedMelchizedek, or the king of Salem, tells him that “Your Personal Legend is what you have always wanted to accomplish” andthat “When you want something, all the universe    17    in helping you to achieve it.” This is the most    18    philosophyand motto of this book. A pretty Arabian woman named Fatima also explains to him that    19    he follows his heart, he willcertainly find what he seeks. Afterwards, Santiago encounters an alchemist who tells about personal legends. And thealchemist tells him that    20     fail to understand their personal legends will never comprehend the teachings.
