Late onenight, the animals that lived on mean Mr. Jones’s farm had ameeting. An old pig called Major told them about a world whereanimals were free from bad treatment. Soon after, two pigs calledSnowball and Napoleon made a plan to help the animals lead a betterlife. One day, when Mr. Jones forgot to feed them, they drove him outof the farm.

At first, theplan was a great success. But then some of the pigs became arrogantand Napoleon began to convince the other animals that the pigs werealways right.

Later thatyear, Mr. Jones came back and tried to retake his farm, but theanimals won again. Then, a group of mean dogs arrived and chasedSnowball away forever. This was planned by Napoleon, who wanted to bein authority. After that, he told the animals that he would make allthe decisions, and took over the farm as a dictator.

Soon, lifebecame miserable for the animals on the farm again. The pigs movedinto Mr. Jones’s house, adopting the lifestyle of human, while theother animals received less and less food. The pigs even sold onehard-working horse called Boxer to a factory, and later he waskilled. They even walked on their back legs, and didn't care that theother animals were suffering. A saying they painted on the wallshowed how horribly they had changed. “All animals are equal,” itsaid, “but some are more equal than others.”
