(34~36) Stephen Hawking was born in England in 1942. Besides mathand science, he enjoyed being in the school's boat club and musicclub. However, after he went to Cambridge to study, he began tohave health problems. He could not speak or walk like commonpeople and he often dropped things or fell without knowing why.After going through lots of tests, doctors found that Hawking hadALS, and they said he only had a few years to live.     Because of ALS, Hawking was depressed at first, but he liveda full and meaningful life with the help of science and modernmedicine. He began to study and work even harder than before.Although Hawking could not move by himself or talk to others, heused machines to help communicate with others. He wrote manyimportant papers and became well-known for his works on relativityand black holes.    Hawking also enjoyed writing books. His book, A BriefHistory in Time, became very popular selling millions of copies andhad been on the London Sunday Times best-seller list for four years.He also wrote several children's books with his daughter, Lucy. Hawking died in March, 2018.
