Smoking and alcohol are also considered Group 1. Red meat, on the otherhand, has been classified as a Group 2A carcinogen, which means it probably causescancer. There are certain chemicals in red meat and processed meat – both added andnaturally occurring – that cause these food to be carcinogen.To reduce your risk of cancer, it is recommended eating no more than one serve oflean red meat per day or two serves 3-4 times per week. Cut out processed meatsaltogether or keep them to an absolute minimum. A diet of mostly fruits, vegetables and amoderate amount of fish appears to offer the most protection against developing coloncancer. A healthy diet is good for overall outcomes and it is also good for preventingcancer.
