     Tokyo is gearing up for the 2020 Summer Olympic Games, which will kick off in the end of July. Stadiumsare being readied and    41    is being prepped, with a view to safeguarding athletes’ performance andspectators’ excitement. Meanwhile, in the Olympic village, organizers are preparing to move in some interestingand    42    beds, made of recyclable cardboard!
     A bedding company called Airweave will be supplying 18,000 “high resistance lightweight cardboard” bedswith polyethylene mattresses for the Olympic athletes and an additional 8,000 beds for the Paralympians. Thebeds aren’t just sustainable, but     43    designed for maximum comfort for the athletes. The level of firmnessof the mattresses can be adjusted to suit different needs and body types. Sections that support the shoulders,waist, and legs can all be individually    44    by the athletes. The sustainable nature of the beds isn’t just in thematerial they are made of. After the Olympics, the cardboard bed frames will be recycled into paperproducts,   45    the mattresses will be recycled into new plastic products. The use of the sustainable bedsis just one of the many measures Japan has carried out to show its unwavering commitment to the 3R of theenvironment, i.e. reduce, reuse, and recycle.
