問題詳情

When I was a little girl, my grandmother took wonderful care of me. Every day after school, she would be waiting at the school gate to take me home because my parents were still out at work. I often stayed at her house on weekends, and in the mornings, she made sure that my favorite foods were on the breakfast table. During school vacations, she took me on trips to the countryside and the zoo, and bought me gifts even when it wasn’t my birthday. I never saw her get angry, and she would always read me stories until I fell asleep.     As I grew older, however, I had less and less time to spend with her. I was busy doing other things: I went to parties and went out shopping with friends. I rarely stayed at her house, and even started to feel it was a chore to visit her. Then, my grandmother passed away. It was very sudden, and I was shocked. Immediately, I felt guilty that I hadn’t been able to say goodbye and that I hadn’t visited enough in her last few years.     But then, while helping clear out her house, I discovered something that made me feel better. She had kept every single picture I had ever painted her and every birthday card I had made. Every small gift I’d ever given her was carefully stored. Now I knew that even though I didn’t visit her often enough as I grew older, my grandma understood my love for her─and she had loved me anyway.
