問題詳情

(B)It happens to everyone now and again. You walk into a store. You know you've never been there before, but the placeseems terribly familiar. Or maybe you are talking with a friend, and you get the weird feeling that you've had the sameconversation before, even though you know that you haven't. We all have this experience at least once in our lives, andsome of us get it quite often.      The feeling is known as deja vu, two French words that can be translated as "already seen". There are many theoriesabout what causes it. Scientists think that, in some cases, physical problems in the brain or nervous system lead to deja vu.Of course, the overwhelming number of deja vu events happen to healthy people.      The most common type of deja vu is a result of "association". For example, you see, hear, or smell something, and itgives you a feeling that you associate with something you've seen, heard, or smelled before. Many scientists think that thistype of deja vu is based on real memories, and the areas of the brain that control memory are the source of it      Usually, deja vu comes suddenly and goes quickly, so it is difficult to study. For a few people, though, it is there allthe time. Recently, some old folks in the UK seemed to have such a problem. They refused to watch the TV news becausethey had a feeling that they already knew what was going to be said. Doctors have studied them but have not yet found thereasons for their condition.
