V. Reading Comprehension 10% (@2)        Kindness must start at home. How can you be kind to people you don’t know if you aren’t kind to those closest to you? When you see your tired mom doing house chores, do you go to her aid? After dinner, do you help her clean up the mess and do the dishes? How about when you have dirty laundry? Do you usually wait until she does it, or do you make an effort to do it yourself?       Your parents both work very hard, and just because you are young doesn’t mean you are unable to give a hand. Besides, do not wait till they are already starting to do something before you offer to help. Always be the first to help! Start setting the table before your mom even asks! Pick up the vacuum cleaner and start sucking up at least all the dirt and dust on your room’s floor! If you see dirty dishes in the sink, then clean them!        For those people who live in the suburbs, you are supposed to know how hard it is to keep the yard tidy. At least once every two weeks, the lawn has to be mowed.Moreover,  , the bushes need trimming and the weeds digging up. This is not easy work! Just think that your parents return home tired from all day work and then have to cook dinner and keep up the house as well. What a workload! When you’re older, work doesn’t seem to end.        You can help ease their workload and make their lives a bit more comfortable by helping them around the house. You should do it because you love them, but if you need a reason why you should be big-hearted and kind, think of it as payback—raising kids has been a great challenge. You are no doubt your parents’ biggest concern. They worry about your health, your happiness, your schoolwork, and your future. They never stop worrying. Thus, the least you can do is to offer to help with work that you are capable of doing. Your parents definitely will appreciate it!
