問題詳情

Most of Sheena's friends have more money than she does. The trouble is, she likes to spend time socializing with them. And it seems that everything they like to do costs money. They have dinner together once a month, for example, as well as going to movies and KTV parlors. When they ask Sheena to come along, she finds it hard to refuse. Obviously, she wants to enjoy herself, but she also doesn't want her friends to think badly of her. Her inability to say no is causing Sheena financial problems.        There are things Sheena could do to cut down on the money she spends without jeopardizing her friendships. She could make suggestions about where to go, involving activities that don't cost much. She might suggest going hiking, or playing games in a local park, for instance. She can save money at movies by saying she is on a diet and avoiding drinks and popcorn. On the whole, however, it's probably best if Sheena is honest about her financial situation. If her friends are real friends, they will understand and sympathize with her.     People respect you more when you are able to say no. They realize they cannot take advantage of you. You also become less stressed. Instead of attending a party you felt pressured into going to, you can spend more time on doing what you like. These are lessons Sheena needs to learn.
