問題詳情

(B) Nutrition guidelines shouldn’t be codes impossible to decipher. Over the years, varioustypes of nutrition guidelines have been devised in order to help people eat more healthily. Onerecent example is MyPlate, which was designed with simplicity and user‐friendliness in mind. (a)This is largely due to the fact that average consumers cannot apply the concepts of MyPlate, namely eating more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains and getting less protein from animal foodproducts, to their shopping experiences. In other words, they still do not know what to purchasewhen they navigate the supermarket aisles. A different approach, named Traffic Light Labeling hasbeen introduced in Europe recently. (b) It is widely welcomed by nutritionists and health experts, who have called for making it the standard information system for nutrition facts. Intuitive andself‐evident, Traffic Light Labeling informs consumers at a glance of fat, saturated fat, salt, andsugar content. (c) Obviously, red means high, yellow means medium and green stands for lowpercentages of these ingredients. Therefore, the more red indicators appear on the package of afood item, the less healthy the product is deemed to be; vice versa, the more green, the healthierchoice it is. (d) An easy‐to‐understand and unified labeling system can help people make betterdietary decisions; after all, eating right to be fit should not be complicated at all.
