Figures show that between 1957 and 2007, the Atlantic bluefin tuna population declined by about 75 percent because ofoverfishing. Scientists have now found that Pacific bluefin tuna are experiencing a similar drop in numbers. That’s likely becausefishermen catch the fish as they try to breed, which prevents them from having a large number of o 9 g.   Japan is now attempting to c 10 e Pacific bluefin tuna on an industrial scale, the first such move to farm the fish. Theultimate goal is for the catching of bluefin tuna in Japanese waters to decrease, and eventually, end altogether. It’s hoped that moderntechnology will help the bluefin tuna bounce back in the wild so that we don’t lose this majestic creature.
