(3)Nervousness is our emotional reaction to stress. It is somethingmost of us have experienced at some point in our life. It usuallyhappens when we face an important event. For example, we may getnervous during an interview, while performing on stage, or evenbefore an examination. At times, nervousness may be due to medicalconditions such as hormonal imbalances or anxiety disorders. It canalso be caused by excessive use of caffeine.

     Whenwe are nervous, there are certain changes that happen within ourbody. These changes occur because of an increase of stress hormonesin our blood. Some common signs of nervousness are: hands becomesweaty, mouth dries up, heart beat increases, and it becomesdifficult to concentrate. Other reactions to nervousness includemuscular pain in the neck, an upset stomach or irritability.

     Generallyspeaking, some amount of nervousness is good as it makes us dobetter. When we feel nervous before going on stage, our body becomesmore alert and we tend to perform better. However, occasionallynervousness becomes so severe that it disturbs our daily activitiessuch as sleeping and eating. It also prevents us from doing well atwork and from forming meaningful relationships.

      Formost people, nervousness is something that can be settled easily. Butthere are times when it becomes difficult to handle on our own. Insuch cases, it is better to seek medical help. There are differenttreatments available to manage nervousness, includingmedication and counseling. If treated properly, nervousness can beeasily resolved.
