問題詳情

BASE jumping is a dangerous sport that involves jumping off a tall building or other high structures with aparachute. It has become popular with those crazy people who are constantly looking for new and exciting things to do,and because it is so dangerous, it is considered an “extreme sport.”The name is an acronym that stands for the four categories of launch points for a BASE jump: buildings, antennae, spans(bridges) and earth(cliffs). Once a BASE jumper has completed a jump from each of the categories, they areawarded a “BASE number,” which qualifies them as a recognized BASE jumper.According to the Guinness Book of Records, the first official BASE jump was done in 1984 by Carl Boenish inNorway. Since then, many people have become BASE jumpers, and although safer equipment has helped reducefatalities, many people are still injured and killed every year while BASE jumping. Unluckily, Carl Boenish was killedtwo days after his first BASE jump as he tried to repeat it, proving just how dangerous it is. There are no reliablestatistics on the number of people killed and injured while BASE jumping, but it is certainly more dangerous thanskydiving. That is the reason why it is considered illegal in many countries. In conclusion, BASE jumping is not a sport for everyone and is something that most people, including me, wouldnever consider doing. I believe that you must be a little disturbed to do it.
