(F) One of the largest earthquakes ever in Japan happened on Friday, March 11, 2011.The earthquake and tsunami took away many people’s lives. The earthquake was 9.0 on theRichter scale. A 7-meter tsunami also came from the sea after the earthquake. The wavescarried buildings, cars, trucks, and buses with them. Muddy water washed over the farm landand cities.It is said that the earthquake has been the biggest one to hit Japan since the 1800s. InTokyo, buildings shook and trains stopped. Over 4 million buildings had no power. The airportwas closed, and many fires were reported all over the city.Other parts of Japan reported fires, landslides, and collapsed houses. Gas which leakedfrom broken pipes led into many fires. Many houses were burned down.
