Cat lovers have always known this. Scientists at Kyoto University ran some tests on how well49 cats could remember past things--known as an episodic memory. They got the cats to eat from one of two bowls. Fifteen minuteslater, the cats were tested on their memory of which bowl they had eaten from. The team found the cats could remember what they ateand where.The scientists said cats were as good as dogs on different mental tests. A scientist Saho Takagi believed cats think about the pastand enjoy their experiences like humans do. She said understanding cats more will help build better cat-human relationships.
