                                                                   Thanksgiving
         In 1620, some people from England called pilgrims went to America on a boat called theMayflower. The pilgrims were very hungry, but they didn’t have any food. The people wholived in America, called Indians, helped the pilgrims. The Indians shared food with thepilgrims. They ate many different kinds of food together. The pilgrims felt very happy andthankful because the Indians shared their food. Now…Thanksgiving is always in lateNovember. It is always on the 4th Thursday. On Thanksgiving day, Americans remember thethings they are thankful for.
         In the morning, people watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. This parade startedin 1924. It is in New York City. Usually, people meet with their families and eat lots of foodsuch as turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes (with gravy), bread, cranberry sauce, green beancasserole, pumpkin pie, apple pie, pecan pie… The older man of the house carves the turkey.After dinner, some people watch football.
         After Thursday, there are huge “Deals” at the stores on Friday. It called “Black Friday”.Some stores will open at 3, 4 or 5 am. Everyone shops early for Christmas gifts.
