They liked to eat mangos so much that they did not want the humans to learn about this delicious fruit. However, one day a mango dropped into the river and was tasted by the king of the humans. He thought it was the best fruit that he had ever tasted. So, the king led his army into the forest to get more mangos. They soon found the mango tree, which was filled with monkeys eating mangos. Before the men could attack the monkeys, the Monkey King used his body to create a bridge between the forest and the mountain. All he wanted to do was save his monkeys. As the humans watched, the monkeys crossed over to the mountain under the Monkey King's direction. The Monkey King fainted after the last monkey had crossed. When he came to himself, he saw the human king by his side. "You are the king. Why did you serve the monkeys, instead of being served by them?" the human king asked. "When they are in danger, a king cannot think of himself only," the Monkey King answered. "No matter what happens to me, protecting my people is my duty." The human king learned a lesson from the Monkey King's example. He learned to love his people more from then on.
