      Last summer vacation, it was very hot. Just like many people, Kevin’s family didn’tgo out for fun. They stayed home playing computer games, watching TV, and enjoyedcool air-conditioned(有空調的) room all day. When the summer ended, his mom got thebill(帳單) and cried, “Ten thousand dollars! How could it cost so much?” Because ofthis, they had a family meeting, and Kevin’s dad decided “We need to make better use ofgreen energy and live a green life.” Kevin wondered what it meant. Dad said, “Greenenergy means less pollution(汙染) and makes the most use of energy from nature,solar(太陽的) energy, wind energy, and wave power. With the help of green technology,green life is possible.”
     Through his words, Kevin understood the importance(重要性) of “Green energy;green life.” At the same time, the school teachers also told them what people can do toput green life into practice. For example, to reduce the use of power, solar panels(太陽能板) can be used in homes, schools, companies(公司), or even small items(項目).Besides, through the government’s(政府的) green plans, green technology can bebrought into people’s life, like UBikes. With the government’s help, people are morewilling to be green. Recently(最近), shops have been asked to charge(收費) forplastic(塑膠的) shopping bags. Kevin thinks it’s good to reduce(減少) trash.
     Now, Kevin’s family has changed their living way. They set the water heaters(熱水器) with solar energy, eat less meat, eat seasonal(當季的) and local(當地的) food, andturn off lights when they leave the house. On weekends, they go to farms or go mountainclimbing to enjoy nature. When they go out, they’ll walk or take publictransportation(運輸) instead of driving their car. They find it’s not difficult at all.
