三、閱讀測驗:10%      Saving the environment is a hot topic right now, and most companies are thinking of ways to “go green,” that is, to reducepollution and save electricity. In the construction industry, this trend is also becoming popular, not only for large buildings but alsofor residential properties.    How do you reduce energy use in your home? How do you make your home eco-friendly? The answer might be to build a“green” house. “Green” houses look similar to the houses we live today, with a few noticeable differences. They have solar panels onthe roofs or have some kind of wind power to generate their own electricity. On sunny or windy days when the house is unoccupied, power is generated and stored in batteries for later use at night, while excess power is fed back into the power grid at a profit. Imaginegetting paid by the power company instead of paying the company. Most importantly, solar energy or wind power is pure, cleanenergy.     One of the main reasons that we use so much power in our homes is to heat or cool them. “Green” houses are very well insulated, keeping the temperature inside stable, thereby reducing the need for a lot of power to be expended in heating or cooling them.Obviously, the appliances used inside our houses must also be “green” to limit the energy they use and the waste heat they emit.     Finally, “green” houses are built largely from recycled materials, including recycled plastic, paper, and rubber. This way, theycan ease the burden on the environment for raw materials. You can paint your next house whatever color you like, but make sure it’s“green.”
