While school bullies have hurt kids foryears, this new kind of cruelty, called “cyberbullying,” is being taken to a new and unpleasantlevel.   The most serious problem with cyberbullying is that it does not stop at school. In fact, insome cases of cyberbullying, people send mean messages through emails, chatrooms, textmessages or blogs 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For victims of this act, there is no escape, even when they are away from school.   Cyberbullying can include simple taunts, cruel opinions on someone's appearance, and evendeath threats. Many victims find it difficult to live with the bullying. Sadly, some kids are evendriven to killing themselves by the bullying, while others shy away from friends and family andask if they could change schools or relocate to a different neighborhood. These reactions indicate  just how bad the problem can be.

While stopping simple taunting may just take a phone call to the bullies byparents or school officials, the police must get involved in tracking down the bullies who makedeath threats and bring them to justice. As for the schools' part, they can also help to preventcyberbullying through educating students and introducing anti-bullying rules.
