Parents in particular have expressed their concerns that Street View might pose athreat to the safety of their children. In addition, legal questions have been raised. Somecountries in Europe have laws that prohibit the filming of people on public property withouttheir consent, so Street View may actually be illegal in some locations. Yet, others say thatprograms like Street View are an inevitable part of the information era we now live in. Astechnology continues to advance, the line between public and private becomes increasinglyblurred. One thing is sure: as the technology improves, the controversy will grow.
