四、閱讀測驗【請在下列各題中選出最適當的答案】    As the elevator closes, your throat tightens, hands sweat, and mind races from one horrible thought to another. What ifthe doors won’t open? What if you run out of air? You begin to panic and pull at your clothes in desperation. If this terrorsounds familiar, you may suffer from claustrophobia.   Claustrophobia is an anxiety disorder characterized by the irrational fear of confined spaces. When a claustrophobic isin an enclosed or narrow space, he or she may be prone to have panic attacks. These attacks can result in shortness of breath,an increase in the heart rate, and dizziness. Some claustrophobics may even pass out if they feel overwhelmed by asituation.   To avoid these feelings, they would try to keep away from circumstances that could trigger the dreaded panic. Aclaustrophobic may even go so far as to walk up a dozen flights of stairs just to avoid traveling in an elevator. Subways, buses, or other forms of mass transportation where people are packed side by side could also set off an attack. Instead ofgetting around in this manner, a claustrophobic will choose to drive (better if in a convertible), walk, or ride a bike instead.   Several kinds of treatment for claustrophobia are available, and with determination, it can be overcome. The besttreatment programs use four different components. These elements are psychoeducation, breathing re-training, cognitivetherapy, and virtual reality (VR) exposure. The aim of psychoeducation is to educate the patient. In this element, they learnabout what claustrophobia is all about and how it plagues them. Breathing re-training is a way for patients to relearn how tobreathe naturally. Cognitive therapy helps patients interpret and adapt to their claustrophobia so as to lessen its negativeimpact. Lastly, there’s VR exposure. In a virtual world, patients can experience being in a situation they fear withoutactually being there.
