3. My friend Irene was someone who I will always remember. She was a happy woman who always thought about other people. However, not everything went well in her life. In fact, she had an unhappy childhood. Before she was born, her parents were hoping for a baby boy. They did not spend much time with her. When she was four years old, her father died, and her mother left her with her grandmother. So Irene was shy and lonely during her childhood.  But Irene became sure of herself later because she found something to be proud of. She was good at sports like tennis and swimming. When she grew up, her childhood experiences helped her to better understand what other people needed. She often taught sports to children from poor families and helped them with their homework. She hoped that every child could grow up happily.  Unfortunately, Irene died of cancer last month. We were all very sad. Her own little boy is just five years old. He might not remember very much about his mother, so we have decided to write down some stories about Irene.
