With these fears of the environment becomingincreasingly more and more unlivable, many people are choosing to “gogreen.” From celebrities to your next-door neighbor, people aroundthe world are becoming more conscious of the fact that it is the dutyof every individual to conserve the environment.    There are many ways one can helpthe planet and go green, ways that can be easily incorporated intoone’s daily life. By walking, bicycling to school or work, or bycommuting with others to school or work, not only will you help toeliminate the pollution that is emitted into the environment fromautomobiles, but you will also save money by not having to purchasegasoline or even a car. When going to the grocery store, don’t takea new paper or plastic bag but bring a used one from home, or evenbetter yet, carry a cloth bag with you. Millions of plastic bags areconsumed a year by shoppers, tons of plastic that we don’t needsitting in landfills around the globe. It takes years and years forplastic to decompose since it isn’t a biodegradable substance, andthough this material is useful, we should try to use materials thatare biodegradable more often, such as paper and cloth.  Another way to save our resourcesis to conserve electricity and water, as large amounts of both arewasted each year by negligence.Therefore, always make sure to turn off the lights when you aren’tusing them, and do not leave the water running all the time when youare brushing your teeth, washing your hands, or doing the dishes.Also, always buy high efficiency appliances and light bulbs with lowwattage ratings that consume less electricity to help save energy andlower your energy bills. Recycle paper, plastic, glass, and aluminumas often as possible; if there isn’t a recycling plant near you,come up with creative ideas to reuse these items.
